Disabled dating in Merseyside
Liverpool, the Wirral, Southport, St Helens, Bootle, Crosby: meet disabled singles across Merseyside and plan a date on the waterfront or in the city's free galleries.
Merseyside at a glance
Merseyside is built around Liverpool, with its waterfront, two cathedrals and a sense of humour known all over the world. The Wirral sits across the river, Southport and Crosby are up the coast, and St Helens and Knowsley lie inland. The city centre is flat, walkable and full of free museums, and Merseyrail links most of the area, which makes this one of the easier places in the north to plan a date without a car.

Disability dating in Merseyside, either side of the river
Liverpool, the Wirral and Southport can feel like different places, but Merseyrail and the ferry make them close for a date. Members living nearest to you are the first you see, and Lancashire, Cheshire, Manchester and north Wales are there whenever you want to look further. The waterfront is the classic meeting place: level, central, easy to find and full of places to sit down when you need to.
Dating for disabled people in Merseyside, with a sense of humour
People here are known for a good laugh, and a bit of humour goes a long way when you are dating with a disability. You can be honest about the awkward stuff, the lift that never works or the taxi that never turns up, without it becoming a big deal. Say what you need for the date, keep the first one short if you like, and see where the conversation goes. The right person will laugh with you, never at you.
Merseyside: accessible first-date ideas
Waterfront walks, free museums and a big Victorian park, most of it flat. Ring ahead if you need to be sure of access.
Royal Albert Dock
Flat quaysides lined with bars, restaurants and free museums, the Maritime Museum among them, with the Pier Head promenade beside the river.
Mersey Ferry
An accessible boat across the river and back, and a sit-down way to see the skyline from the water.
Walker Art Gallery
Free and step-free, near Lime Street, with the World Museum and Central Library next door.
Liverpool's two cathedrals
The vast Anglican cathedral and the round Metropolitan one are both accessible, and Hope Street links them.
Sefton Park
A big Victorian park with a lake and the restored Palm House, flat and lovely for an unhurried walk.
Crosby Beach
Antony Gormley's hundred iron figures stare out to sea, and you can see them from the level promenade. Free, and like nothing else.
Getting around Merseyside
Merseyrail links Liverpool with the Wirral, Southport and the rest of the area, and many of its stations are step-free. Liverpool Lime Street has fast trains to the rest of the country, the ferry crosses the Mersey and the tunnels join the city to the Wirral by road. Most main stations are step-free, and staff assistance can be requested in advance, and the city centre is flat. For a first date, somewhere near a Merseyrail stop you both use is a simple plan.
Merseytravel is who to ask for a disabled person's travel pass in the Liverpool City Region. With it, off-peak journeys on local buses are free, on Merseyside and across England.
