Disabled dating in Staffordshire

From Stafford, Lichfield and Tamworth to Burton, Leek and Newcastle-under-Lyme, meet disabled singles across Staffordshire and choose a first date that is easy for both of you to reach.

England

Staffordshire at a glance

Staffordshire sits in the middle of England and is greener than people expect, with the heathland of Cannock Chase, the edge of the Moorlands, big estates and three-spired Lichfield. The towns are spread out but well linked, which makes it a practical county for dating. A match in Burton or Stafford is rarely more than a short drive or train ride away, and there are plenty of calm, level places to meet when you get there.

Right in the middle

Disability dating in Staffordshire, where nowhere is far

Being in the centre of the country has its perks. Members in Staffordshire are close to people in the West Midlands, Cheshire and Derbyshire as well as their own county, so there is a wider pool within an hour than most places get. Disability Dates puts people near you at the top of your matches, and you can open the search out whenever you want. If driving is not for you, look for someone on the same rail line; Lichfield to Tamworth or Stafford to Stoke is a short hop.

Your way

Dating for disabled people in Staffordshire, on your terms

You decide what you share and when. Some people put their condition in the first line of their profile, while others mention it once they have got chatting. Both are fine. What helps most is saying what makes a date work for you: a short first meeting, somewhere quiet, a table rather than a stool, or a daytime plan because evenings wipe you out. Being upfront like that means the first date is about each other rather than the venue.

First dates

Staffordshire: accessible first-date ideas

Calm places that are well set up for visitors. Opening times and access can change, so look before you leave.

Trentham Gardens

A smooth path of about a mile runs right round the lake, and the Italian Gardens are largely step-free. Cafés and a shopping village sit next door.

National Memorial Arboretum

Free to enter near Lichfield, with level paths, a land train and a good café. Quiet and thoughtful, and easy to talk in.

Stowe Pool, Lichfield

A flat walk round the water beside the cathedral, then a choice of independent cafés in the city centre a few minutes away.

Cannock Chase

Birches Valley and Marquis Drive have the easiest forest trails, plus a visitor centre, and there is a fair chance of spotting deer.

Trentham Monkey Forest

Monkeys roam free beside the estate, and an accessible woodland path takes you through. A first date with something to talk about straight away.

A café near your station

Stafford, Lichfield and Tamworth all have mainline stations. Meeting close to one keeps the trip short and the way home simple.

Getting about

Getting around Staffordshire

Staffordshire is crossed by the M6, the M6 Toll and the A50, and trains call at Stafford, Stoke, Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton; Stafford and Stoke are both on the fast West Coast route. The bigger stations are step-free, and you can ask for assistance in advance. Most town centres and the main attractions have Blue Badge parking, though Leek and the Moorlands villages are hillier, so a quick look at the route saves surprises.

Apply to Staffordshire County Council for a disabled person's bus pass, or to Stoke-on-Trent City Council if you live in the Potteries. Once you have one, off-peak bus journeys cost nothing in Staffordshire or elsewhere in England.

Basically, I'm a music-loving Elder Goth. Music is soooo important to me. I'm happiest at a live gig. I love to hop on a train with my little chariot & visit other cities or even countries (not managed this for quite a few years) I would love someone special in my life again but even a good music-loving friend would be great. I can't handle racism, intolerance of any kind. I need an intelligent man to get me to use my brain more than I currently do, my illnesses definitely don't help, I have rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, scolio/kyphosis, the worst pain is in my lower back where I have spinal stenosis & the bottom looks like a pile of Jenga after it's tumbled. My knees won't completely straighten either due to arthritis but I hide them with flowing goth skirts. I can still dance after a few glasses of anaesthetic. My pain relief is totally inadequate. I think that's enough for now?

Staffordshire: your questions

What is the most accessible day out for a date in Staffordshire?

Trentham Gardens is hard to beat, with a smooth path all the way round the lake. The National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield is free and level too, with a land train.

Is there a disabled dating site in Staffordshire?

Yes. Disability Dates welcomes disabled singles across Staffordshire and the rest of the UK. It costs nothing to join, and you will see members near you first.

Can I meet people from Stoke and the West Midlands too?

Of course. Matches start close to home, but you can message members in Stoke, Birmingham, Wolverhampton or anywhere else.

Is Cannock Chase any good if I use a wheelchair?

Parts of it are. The trails around Birches Valley and Marquis Drive are the easiest, and there is a visitor centre. The rougher heathland paths are best left out.
